Post Hurricane: We are Ok

Hello gals,

I am so grateful to say that we made it through Gonzalo! This was a BEAST of a hurricane that slammed us for approx. 27 hrs with winds reaching 146 mph. There were many roofs lost and some major property damage, but I am so happy that there was no lives lost during this hurricane.

BELCO  has done an amazing job at restoring power and there  is only about 3,000 of us left without electricity. I am hopeful that power will be restored to the remainder of us in the next couple of weeks, until then we will have to continue dipping water from our tanks to get baths, flush toilets etc.

Thank you so much to you all for your kind words, prayers and encouragement to what was one of the scariest time in my life.

I will be back to blogging as soon as I can (as soon as I get some power) but in the meantime, I will still be making my rounds via my Blackberry and reading your fab blogs.

Here is a link to a few videos of before, during and after Gonzalo

Lots of love.

Away From My Blog Due to Hurricaine Gonzalo

Hi Gals,

I will be a way from my blog, as my country hectically prepares for one of the worst hurricanes…Hurricane Gonzalo, due to hit us on Friday.

This hurricane has become a major threat to Bermuda as it is now a category 3 and is predicted to batter us with tropical and hurricane force winds for approx 27hrs. It’s an understatement to say that I am terrified…but I am sooo terrified.

For those of you gals who are not familiar with hurricane ratings, they are rated upon strength on a scale of 1 to 5...category 1  being the weakest (wind speed of 74-94 mph) and category 5 being the  strongest (winds of 156 mph and greater) So you can imagine the lashing that Bermuda is about to face…uggh! You can also take a peek at Sharkoil.bm for more info on hurricanes.
